Authorities seek motorcyclist
involved in crash with truckn By Jan Kaus, Journal Staff Writer
RAPID CITY — The Pennington County
Sheriff's Office is looking for information on a motorcycle
driver who collided with a semitrailer about 5 p.m. Friday
near the Flying J truck stop east of Rapid City.
Deputy
Jeff Twite of the sheriff's office said Saturday: "We don't
know who drove the motorcycle or where the motorcycle is. He
got out of there before any of us got there."
Twite said the driver of the semi,
56-year-old Duane Wiemerslage of Rapid City, had been
traveling north on Elk Vale Road.
"He was making a
right turn into Excel (Truck and Trailer Repair) when he heard
a bump," Twite said. "He stopped, got out and the guy was
picking himself up. The truck driver said the cyclist had cuts
on his face."
The motorcycle driver asked Wiemerslage
not to call the police, Twite said. "But (Wiemerslage) called
in right away. Box Elder Fire Department got there first, but
the guy and the bike were gone. That guy got up and was out of
there quick."
Twite said Wiemerslage thought he saw the
bike northbound on Elk Vale Road shortly after the
accident.
Anyone with information about the incident is
asked to call the Pennington County Sheriff's Office at
394-2151.
