Hazmat haulers can go to BV for fingerprintingTHE SAGINAW NEWSA Buena Vista Township truck stop will host fingerprinting for commercial drivers who must obtain or renew hazardous materials endorsements. The Patriot Act requires hazmat haulers to undergo background checks. Until recently, the only federally approved company that provided fingerprinting in Michigan was in Farmington Hills. Now, representatives from the contract company Comnetix say they will fingerprint drivers at three Flying J Travel Plaza locations in the state. Comnetix will set up at the Buena Vista Flying J, 3475 E. Washington, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays. Other locations are in Benton Harbor and Grand Ledge. Fingerprinting is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. All applicants must register at www.hazprints.com or call Integrated Biometric Technology at (877) 429-7746. Hazardous materials endorsements allow drivers to haul explosives, poisons, radioactive materials and flammable products that pose heath and safety risks during transport. v
